Music will kick off at about 7.30 with two mini-sets from Mike Wheeler and Startled Bee. Embers will be on after that. They do lovely close harmonies. Georgia Hall is a pop/rock act, but tonight she’s playing with her bassist and drummer in the “unplugged” style. I’ll be on again after Georgia and then Mike will round off the night accompanied on some songs by his pal Adam Linson on double bass.
I’m playing on Saturday 22nd November at Edinburgh’s Home Bar, from 7pm.
I’m playing on Saturday 22nd November at Edinburgh’s Home Bar, from 7pm.
The gig is co-production with my pal Mike Wheeler (rocky/folky stripped down Americana).
We’ll also have two, as they say, “special guests”. They are: Ally Duncan (lyrically delightful modern folky-pop) and Zoë Moonshine (piano driven emotional ballads with stunning vocals).
It’s all at the Home Bar on Home Street (just by the Kings Theatre and sort of diagonally opposite from the Cameo). We’ve got the basement for the evening. There’s a bar in the basement area and also upstairs.
Doors will be at 7.00pm and the music will kick off with mini-sets from me and Mike at 7.30pm. Then the plan is for sets from Ally, Zoë, me, and Mike. And we might do a special thing at the end.
Sunday 30th November (afternoon): Steel Coulson
And, another gig… the following weekend, on the Sunday 30th November, I’ll be playing some songs at Steel Coulson on Edinburgh’s Southside. This is a relaxed afternoon session with a few other players taking turns and us all joining in on some numbers at the end. Kicks off at 2.30 and runs for a couple of hours or so.
Delighted to be opening act at Club Nitty Gritty at Edinburgh’s Home Bar. I’m due on stage at about 8.15. After me is the punk band Dapitz and then it’s The Heartbreak Diet. All the action is down in the basement.
My pal Mike Wheeler and I are doing a wee gig at Edinburgh’s Home Bar on Saturday Nov 12th 2022. We’re expecting they’ll be space for all who want to come, but do let us know if you’re planning to attend so we can keep an eye on the numbers.
I’ll be playing a set at Bannermans on Tuesday 20th Sept. My slot is around 8.20pm and then Mike Wheeler is on after me at around 9.00pm. Lots of other acts that night, courtesy of Pressure Valve events.
Both Mike and I have been expanding the open mics we’ve been doing recently including checking out The Auld Hundred, the Home Bar, the Strathmore. And, of course, we’re down at Out of the Bedroom most fortnights.
We working up to a Startled Bee & Mike Wheeler gig. More news on that soon, but the artist in residence is already prepping for the poster.
My pal Mike and I are doing a wee Zoom gig. Who knows if it will actually be the last ZoomCast. But here’s hoping. Get in touch if you’d like the Zoom link to the gig.
Sadly the planned session at Finn & Bear on Sunday 3rd has been cancelled. Not so much startled as disappointed bee. As you can see, the bear is really cut up.
Playing about half an hour at the bijou Jinglin’ Geordie on Fleshmarket Close. I’m on at about 10pm. Mix of covers, mph numbers and one or two of the bee’s own. Organised and hosted by Pressure Valve‘s Phil Ramsay.
